Still waiting for a refund for his plates, Sudbury resident Neil Zarnovski called his local Service Ontario on Wednesday to make sure they still have his correct address. He explained to them that all of his friends already received their cheque in the mail over a week ago but he still hasn’t seen a penny.
“I just want to make sure you still have my address because it’s been about six years since I renewed them. I used to get renewal letters but those have long since stopped coming as well.”
After waiting on hold for a few minutes, the agent informed him that he hasn’t renewed his plates since 2015 and they expired the following year. That means that he would not be receiving a refund because he didn’t pay for them to begin with.
“Well that’s horseshit,” he said to begin his rant. “I’m not good enough for Dougie to buy my vote, is that what you’re saying? I’m smart enough to prevent police from pulling me over for six years and he thinks my vote is not needed?”
He isn’t the only one who has been left out of the free money, there have been reports from all over Ontario of people not getting a piece of the refund action simply because they didn’t have time to renew their plates or they forgot they had a birthday in the past 4 years. It could happen to anyone and now they are being unfairly punished.
With just a couple of months until the Ontario election, Ford is running out of time to find ways to pay for these people’s votes. Despite what the Service Ontario rep told him, Neil will still wait for the mail carrier to come every day and vows that his vote is still for sale ….for now.
