An Ottawa area school bus driver thinks the OPP’s reaction to him driving 106km/hr in a 60 zone while transporting kids to school was a little bit overboard. The overdramatic officer immediately told him that his bus was being impounded and that his license was suspended for 30 before he even had a chance to explain himself.
The bus driver, who was only doing this job part-time while he waited for the carnival season to begin so he could get back to his post on The Scrambler, couldn’t understand what the fuss was all about. Safety is always his number one concern which is why he measured each child before he let them board the bus to make sure they were a safe height for their fun ride to school.
“Officer, the ride wasn’t even at its full potential yet as I had just got onto this straight stretch. I hadn’t even hit a bump yet before I saw your flashing lights yet,” he explained. “That’s what the kids were waiting for and then I was going to slow it down.”
Despite all his pleas, it was only falling on deaf ears. The police explained all about stunt driving laws in Ontario to him which he disagreed with but respected. He was not so much concerned for himself that he lost his license but more for the children who have to live in this world of buzzkill rules. He could only watch in disappointment as the boring tow truck driver slowly drove away at 60km/h.
